Handkerchief ผ้าเช็ดหน้า
The word "handkerchief" sounds very dated now. I don't think very many people use handkerchief these days. Most children don't even know they exist. Remember watching the film "You've got mail" and Meg Ryan produced her white cotton handkerchief to the little boy after he sneezed. He didn't know what it was and she explained to him, "This is a Kleenex that we don't throw away."
For me, handkerchief is something very personal. My mum always uses handkerchief as well as my two brothers and me. When I was young, at one point I was addicted to my handkerchief I wouldn't go out without one.
It gave me a chuckle when I first read the book "The hobbit" and Bilbo Baggins explained the bit when he left the Shire so suddenly that he came away without a pocket handkerchief! (Luckily, Gandalf packed some of them when he came to join them later) Poor Bilbo! He had my full understanding and sympathy. I wouldn't go out without one either. Really, I can't explain enough how handy a handkerchief is. To my experience, you can't just find a piece of tissue just the time when you've had a juicy sneeze and have to keep holding your nose looking for something to wipe it. Sometimes you might get lucky and had an old crumble piece of tissue in your pocket and managed to wipe your nose with it, but I wouldn't say it is the most stylish thing to do. We have enough problem with tissue got left in one of the boys' pockets and went in the washing machine which you would probably know by your own experience that how much of a disaster it was! every dark clothing was effected by the horrible white fluff! Well, handkerchiefs would never do that.
What made me write about handkerchief is that I have just bought a lovely old handkerchief from the charity shop. It is so pretty I wonder why nobody uses them anymore. I possess about 30 handkerchiefs and the more the better. I have some for every day use, some for special occasion, some on runny nose day (which will have to be a big, thick ones)
I don't honestly think handkerchief is a feminine thing either. They are the handy thing both ladies and gentlemen must have. My son has started to use handkerchief and I chose some nice plain manly ones for him -- very handy, puts in his trousers' pocket and it's always there just in case. Boys' best friend.

สำหรับฉันนั้น ผ้าเช็ดหน้าเป็นอะไรที่เป็นส่วนตัวจริงๆ แม่ของฉันใช้ผ้าเช็ดหน้าและสอนให้ลูกๆคือฉันและพี่ชายทั้งสองใช้่ด้วย ตอนที่ฉันยังเป็นเด็กฉันติดผ้าเช็ดหน้าถึงขนาดว่าไม่ออกจากบ้านถ้าไม่มีผ้าเช็ดหน้าติดตัวไปด้วย
ตอนที่ฉันอ่านหนังสือเรื่อง เดอะ ฮอบบิทเป็นครั้งแรกฉันก็อดขำไม่ได้ตอนผู้เขียนบรรยายว่าบิลโบ แบ๊กกิ้นออกจากบ้านแบคเอนด์ไปร่วมผจญภัยกับเหล่าคนแคระทั้งหลายอย่างฉุกละหุกไม่ได้ตระเตรียมอะไรเลยแม้แต่ผ้าเช็ดหน้า (โชคดีที่กานดอฟนำผ้าเช็ดหน้าจากบ้านของบิลโบมาให้ตอนที่มาสมทบในตอนหลัง) โล่งใจไปที อดสงสารเห็นใจบิลโบไม่ได้ ฉันเองก็ไม่ไปไหนถ้าไม่พกผ้าเช็ดหน้าไปด้วย
บรรยายไม่หมดหรอกว่าผ้าเช็ดหน้ามีประโยชน์ขนาดไหน เอาเป็นว่าจากประสพการ์ณส่วนตัวนั้นก็คือบ่อยครั้งแรกอยู่ในสถารการ์ณที่หาทิชชู่ไม่ได้ทันท่วงที เช่น อยู่ก็จามออกไปน้ำมูก น้ำตาไหล ต้องคอยกุมจมูกอยู่อย่างนั้นขณะควานหาทิชชู ถ้าโชคดีไปก็อาจจะหาเศษทิชชูเก่าๆที่ติดค้างอยู่ในกระเป๋ากางเกงมาแก้ขัดไปได้ แต่ว่าก็ว่าเถอะมันน่้าดูเสียที่ไหน แถมเราๆท่านๆก็คงเคยประสบปัญหาเวลาซักผ้าแล้วมีกระดาษทิชชู่หลงอยู่ในกระเป๋ากางเกงของสมาชิกเพศชายในบ้าน ทำให้เสื้อผ้าสีมีผงสีขาวจากทิชชูเกาะเต็มไปหมด ยากที่จะกำจัดด้วย รับรองได้ว่าจะลืมผ้าเช็ดหน้าไว้ในกระเป๋ากางเกงกี่ครั้งปัญหาที่ว่านี้ก็จะไม่เกิดขึ้น
ที่ฉันเกิดนึกอยากเขียนเกี่ยวกับผ้าเช็ดหน้าก็เนื่องมาจากตัวเองเพิ่งจะซื้อผ้าเช็ดหน้าส้วยสวยจากร้านขายของการกุศล แล้วก็รู้สึกว่าทำไมของสวยงามอย่างนี้ถึงล้าสมัยไปเสียได้ โดยส่วนตัวนั้นฉันไม่คิดว่าผ้าเช็ดหน้าเป็นของผู้หญิงๆ เพราะผู้ชายก็ใช้ได้ผู้หญิงก็ใช้ดี ลูกชายของฉันก็เริ่มใช้ผ้าเช็ดหน้าเหมือนกัน ฉันเลือกผ้าเช็ดหน้าสีไม่ฉูดฉาด ไม่มีลวดลายให้เขาพกติดกระเป๋ากางเกงเอามาใช้่ได้ทุกเมื่อ มีประโยชน์จริงๆ
