Listened to Classic FM this morning and heard that this is the driest September since 1910! I hope this doesn't mean we will have a wet October. I must admit it has been the best of September ever and I guess they are right we haven't had a lot of rain and I'm not praying for any yet. The level of water in the river is a little low not that I'm complaining -- it's been an absolute gorgeous morning. The blue tits have come to feast on the nuts I hang out on the branch of blossom. Funny that a few days ago this tree was full of leaves and almost overnight the leaves were gone!  Okay, this is an alien who lives in our shad and tries to ride our bicycle...Only joking, he is an alien alright and we don't have his name but he is a papermache alien that my brother in law made for my son. I was in my early twenties when Friends was shown for the first time on television. I watched it now and again and wouldn't say I was a BIG fan though I really enjoyed the show. It is one of not many shows I can watch it over and over without getting bored (Dad's army and Allo Allo included). Towards the end of the series, like the Friends I had become very grown up, I got married and started my family and Friends and I have lost touch. I'd never get to see the end of the show! I think the last one I watched was the one Ross was to get married to Emily. Glad to say, I've been watching Friends again as it is always on Comedy channel and for me it is like getting to know them all over again which I find it is much more enjoyable than when I watched it 10-20 years ago! On Friday night, I must announce that I've seen the end of Friends at long last! Took me what? 10 years?? The coincidence is that my neighbour next door that I adore has moved out this we...

In my opinion, autumn is the most romantic season of the year. Leaves have started to change their colours, the days are getting shorter but it is still warm and plenty of sunshine. We went to our favourite beach in Salthouse today. It was really nice. พี่แจน...จะบอกว่าวันนี้เป็นวันที่อากาศดีอีกวันหนึ่ง เพราะถึงแม้ว่าอากาศจะเริ่มหนาวแล้วแต่ท้องฟ้าแจ่มใสและแดดส่องอบอุ่น ใบไม้เริ่มเปลี่ยนสีและแห้งกรอบ ดังนั้นเวลาที่ลมพัดมันก็กระทบกันเสียงดังกราวๆ และนั่นก็เป็นสัญญานของฤดูใบไม้ร่วง ...ช่วงนี้นอกจากทำงานแล้วก็ไม่ได้ทำอะไรที่ น่าสนใจเท่าไหร่ หวังว่าพี่แจนและครอบครัวสบายดีนะจ๊ะ

The word "handkerchief" sounds very dated now. I don't think very many people use handkerchief these days. Most children don't even know they exist. Remember watching the film "You've got mail" and Meg Ryan produced her white cotton handkerchief to the little boy after he sneezed. He didn't know what it was and she explained to him, "This is a Kleenex that we don't throw away." For me, handkerchief is something very personal. My mum always uses handkerchief as well as my two brothers and me. When I was young, at one point I was addicted to my handkerchief I wouldn't go out without one. It gave me a chuckle when I first read the book "The hobbit" and Bilbo Baggins explained the bit when he left the Shire so suddenly that he came away without a pocket handkerchief! (Luckily, Gandalf packed some of them when he came to join them later) Poor Bilbo! He had my full understanding and sympathy. I wouldn't go out without one ...

Bought a really lovely and colourful book "Bazaar style" by Selina Lake last week. I'm sure I want to sit at this table. อยากนั่งที่โต๊ะนี้จังเลย ชอบไฟที่กำแพงค่ะ I love those twin lamps and the shades.

Seasons and weather seem to be a big part of people in England. I went to work yesterday and told people I met about the first day of autumn and they all went quite solemn. People here always set store by the weather and we simply can't have a conversation without mentioning about it.  I also noticed that it had got dark by half past seven last night. We still have a lovely weather though. For example, today is a very nice autumn day, plenty of sunshine with chilly breeze in the air -- so fresh. I put on my knitted jumper and felt rather snug in it. My mother in law who is a brilliant knitter has supplied me 2 of her handmade knitted jumpers a year (one is for my birthday present and another is for the Christmas present) My husband also announced that he is going to have some baked potato tonight since he has started to feel the chill in the air and he wanted to feel festive. By the way, I bought a bunch of Dahlia for £1.50 from my neighbour plants & flowers stall y...

Today is theoretically the first day of Autumn. I've found out from a website called calendar update that in all northern hemisphere countries, the first day of the autumn season is the day of the year when the Sun crosses the celestial equator moving southward (on September 22 nd or 23 rd ). This day is known as the Autumnal Equinox. So, really the nights will start to get longer than the days from now until the first day of Spring arrives. I must say I love autumn. It is, for me, the most melancholy, beautiful and romantic season of the year. There is something really romantic about keeping warm, stock up provisions etc. Also, the colour of the changing leaves, the smell of bon fire smoke, picking mushrooms and things like that. I am glad to say we still have some sunshine although the weather is getting more chilly and the days are going shorter. I am determined to make the most of this last period of summer. My flowers in the window box are gone and now look very sad - I must do something about that.
